Notifications

This tab allows you to set up notifications about the events related to print jobs on controllable printers. Notifications are created at excess of a user quota, by a computer or the printer. The notification can be sent to the user who has exceeded a quota and (or) to one or several Administrators. Messages send using Windows popup messages using Messenger Service. To receive messages on computers with Windows 95/98/Me it would be necessary to start the Win Popup program (enters into operation system installation). For Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/2008 the additional software it is not required.

NOTE: You should start the Messenger Service on print server and client computers to send and receive messages!

Send over quota notifications to users - enables or disables sending messages to users, who have exceeded a printing quota.

Over quota message text - enter the text, which user will see on the computer at excess of a quota. Note: the text should not exceed 300 symbols.

Send over quota notifications to admins - enables or disables sending messages to listed administrators or computers, when user (computer or printer) exceeded a printing quota.

Over quota message text - enter the text, which administrator will see on the computer at excess of a quota. Note: the text should not exceed 300 symbols.

Admin users or computers - the list of names of managers or names of computers, which will receive the messages, intended to administrators. The message receive all users and the computers which are being the list.

You can override default settings for some user. If default settings is correct for current user, fill only required fields.

In notification messages you can use macro definitions:

The defined macros are:

%SERVER_NAME% - will replaced with the print server name;

%PRINTER_NAME% - will replaced with the printer name;

%JOB_OWNER% - will replaced with user name, who sent the print job;

%JOB_FROM_COMPUTER% - will replaced with computer name, which sent the print job;

%JOB_ID% - will replaced with print job id on this print server;

%JOB_DOCUMENT_NAME% - will replaced with the document name;

%JOB_DOCUMENT_PAGES% - will replaced with the number of pages in print;

%JOB_DOCUMENT_SUBMITTED% - will replaced with the date and time where print job was submitted to this print server;

%PRINT_LOGGER_SIGNATURE% - will replaced Print Logger product name.

Module priority - allows you control CPU usage for this module. Lower priority will decrease your system load, higher priority will decrease this module work time and work speed. Read more about priority classes here.

Use Windows net send - Send messages using NET SEND command. Use this option only if you have a problems with sending messages.

NOTE: If you sending pop up messages on a domain controller that is running Active Directory, access is allowed or denied based on the access control list (ACL) for the securable object. The default ACL permits only Domain Admins and Account Operators to send the messages. On a member server or workstation, only Administrators and Server Operators can use this function.
You should add the SYSTEM user to the Administrators or Server Operators group to be able to send pop up messages.
